Danny Salazar placed on paternity list, Shawn Armstrong recalled

The Cleveland Indians have announced that starting pitcher Danny Salazar has been placed on the paternity list. Reliever Shawn Armstrong has also been recalled from the Triple-A Columbus Clippers.

Armstrong has been called several times throughout the 2016 season, but to date he only has three innings under his belt. In those three innings, he allowed one earned run off of two hits. Armstrong has a 1.84 ERA and a 2.18 FIP in 49 innings with the Columbus Clippers this season, as well as an astounding 35.3 percent strikeout rate. The only thing keeping him from sticking with the major league team, I would assume, is his walk rate, which sits at 14.2 percent in the minors.

Danny Salazar is probably ready to forget August ever happened. He finished it strong with a 5.1-inning effort against the Texas Rangers, but the 26-year-old had a 12.41 ERA and a 7.45 FIP in four August starts. Being as he just pitched yesterday, Salazar likely will not miss a start; at the very least, the Indians could skip over his scheduled day the next time around, seeing as they have an off day coming up on Thursday.
